MOTTO

“The best health insurance is a smart grocery list.”

STATISTICS

In the United States, one in two men will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. That percentage is one in three for women. As high as those numbers are, the number one killer in the United States isn’t cancer. It’s cardiovascular disease.

To put this in a different light: If you are fortunate enough to elude cancer, chances are you will die prematurely of a heart attack.

GOOD NEWS

Cardiovascular disease is reversible, and up to 95 percent of all cancers are preventable. How can these diseases be reversed or prevented? The prescription is simply a healthy diet and lifestyle.

WHAT WE DO

OrthoNut posts one quick, health-related fact daily. It’s nutritional information that is easy to digest.

MISSION

Our mission is to help educate people on healthy, sustainable ways of eating. Changing a plate can change the world.

BEHIND THE NAME

The name OrthoNut is the combination of the greek ortho (meaning “right” or “correct”) and nutrition. In the simplest of forms, OrthoNut means “correct nutrition.”

ORTHONUT vs. ORTHOREXIA

OrthoNut is not to be confused with the term orthorexia, a word used to describe people who have developed an obsession with healthy eating. Though we don’t see anything wrong with orthorexia (besides its negative connotation), we detach ourselves from the term. People who love eating healthy shouldn’t be labeled as “orthorexic.” Instead, we who enjoy eating consciously should be labeled as OrthoNuts: people crazy about eating right.
